San Damiano on Stand Decor
The San Damiano cross is full of symbolism. No one knows who the original artist is; we know that it dates to the 1100s. It was painted in a style popular at the time that served to teach the meaning of the event depicted and thereby strengthen the people’s faith. This stunning cross measures 22" tall and 10.5" wide
Engraved on the back of the cross is a prayer by St. Francis of Assisi "All-highest, glorious God, cast Your light into the darkness of my heart. Give me right faith, firm hope, perfect charity, and profound humility, with wisdom and perception, o Lord, so that I may do what is truly Your holy will. Amen."
